In today's hiring market, legal professionals face personal employment
decisions that are exciting and complex. Partner candidates must consider
practice, client and rate compatibility, as well as law firm culture and
stability--and the "fit" of proteges who might accompany them. Associates
looking for advancement have various opportunities--for the training,
compensation and prestige of firm life, or the excitement and challenge
of start-up work, or sense of teamwork and business-focus provided by
in-house positions. Legal professionals may be considering contract or
temporary assignments to augment income from a private practice, allow
flexibility with family or other interests, test the market after a relocation,
or simply to gain valuable experience.
At CBG, we listen to and counsel our candidates to understand their
current employment status and help establish their larger career objectives.
Career options should become focused and firm to ensure that a jump out of
the frying pan won't end up in the fire. Please contact us
to discuss your employment and career objectives.
Associate-level candidates seeking regular-hire positions may simply call
us, or e-mail or fax a resume
and cover letter to us in complete confidence. In your interest and
ours, your materials will never leave our hands without
your prior consultation and approval. Generally, our clients seek strong
academic credentials and at least one year of practice experience.
Candidates interested in temporary or project assignments are usually placed
as our employees, seconded to the client. CBG pays in the week following performance
of the work, bears employer-side taxes and insures for E&O and workers compensation
to $1 million. Candidates may contact us directly or complete our
on-line registration
form in advance of meeting with us. Candidates will also need to complete W-4, I-9 and
Employment Agreement forms (see below) prior to our meeting. If you prefer, you may fax
those form to us ahead of time.
Some candidates are interviewed soon after application, due to an immediate
potential opportunity. Other candidates will be contacted as soon as opportunities
consistent with their profiles are located. As above, we keep candidate information
confidential and will not provide it to potential employers without candidate
permission.
